so what exactly would happen if you pollymorphed them into a giant ape then someone cast armor of agathys on them would they now deal 167 cold damage any time they are hit or would they clash? (actually you might have to do it the other way around not sure)

When a temp HP feature has a duration, the temp HP goes away when the duration ends. According to 2014 RAW, not sure if it’s the same in the new handbook for temp HP but I’d imagine it is

while this can be easily fixed with errata, this is more evidence that 5.5 wasn't tested and proofread very well. Luckily, we won't be playing d&s anymore for at least a couple of years.

I feel like this is an example of letter vs spirit of the law. The temporary hit points, to me, are obviously tied to the polymorph form 🤔

The target assumes the hit points of its new form. When it reverts to its normal form, the creature returns to the number of hit points it had before it transformed
