@theisabelbrown: This morning, I called three abortion clinics in different places: one in Colorado, one in Washington, DC, and one in Maryland, because I couldn’t get something out of my head—the cackling voice of the sitting Vice President of the United States at last week’s debate claiming “nowhere in America is a woman carrying her baby to term and then seeking out an abortion.” Currently, the age of fetal viability is about 20~21 weeks and improving with advancement in medical technology and intervention, but in Colorado, it’s “totally normal” to get an abortion at 30 weeks. In Washington, doctors “specialize” in late abortion “care” up to nearly 32 weeks, and in Maryland, you can obtain an abortion up to THIRTY FIVE WEEKS. Why? Simply because of a diagnosis for your child of a disability, which in no way changes the status of their humanity. This is, plain and simple, eugenics. We are our own worst nightmare in America, the “most progressive” country on the planet that in reality is applauding at the top of our lungs to protect so-called “rights” that in reality are stripping rights away from the most innocent and marginalized in society.
