The receptionist always wants to ask you your medical issue at the desk in front of every other person in the waiting room. The doctor always asks you what your issue is anyway!

Its the GPs that request that the receptionists ask. You'd be surprised how many people try to abuse the appointment system for appointments that aren't necessary
