I did a backpacking trip in my early twenties with Outward Bound, and we did solo days but we weren’t far from each other and our guides would come by and check on us everyday, sometimes twice a day.

Ngl, I camped and hiked all over CO. If you walk for 4+ days you’ll eventually reach a town, road, or populated area. I love CO, but seems like the whole state is pretty populated even in back country
