You should add an event that only happens at night, like a blood moon. This could tie into my skeleton pillar idea where only after on of these nights occur the pillars will start spewing.

You could add loading screens that are images of dark fantasy pictures and a loading icon at the bottom. The loading screens could fade out to black then a new picture shows up.
