TURBAN SNAIL CATCH AND COOK 🐌 Ever since i was little i enjoyed scaling the rocks of my hometown in Florida near the coast. I would see all kinds of crabs, snails, and fish. Going to California has opened my eyes to so many different species that i had never seen before and are edible! The tide pools on the west coast seem to be much more vast than the ones i have seen on the east coast. This may be because i have not been to the right tide pools, or because of the difference in water temperature. Either way, seeing these new species is mind boggling to someone who thought they knew so much about the ocean. I was very surprised by how much meat is in each of these snails. At first glance, it looked like there would be little to no yeild per snail. Boy was i wrong! There is so much more than originally expected. Perhaps the grestest part about this catch and cook though, is A. How easy it is, but B. How many other edible species surrounded these guys. I’m talking sea urchin, rock fish, monkey-face eel, limpet, multiple edible seaweeds, rock crab, the list goes on! Catch and cooks on most of the species mentioned are already posted. If you are going for these, it is best to go during low tide when these turban snails are most exposed, however for this particular species i am sure you can go any time of day. RECIPE Boil Turban Snails for 8-10 minutes in SALT WATER (make salt water by adding salt to fresh water) BUTTER DIP: Half Stick of Salted Butter Minced Garlic Fresh Thyme, Rosemary, and Paraley Microwave the butter dip for 30 seconds and mix when finished. Let me know whay you want me to go for next!
