Taking inspiration for design is normal, the problem here is that palworld is a blatant infringement of Pokémon IP Pokémon has to defend it.

literally only two dragon quest monsters look the same as a pokemon everything else way farther than in comparison than the jet dragon pal literally steals designs and sudo name of Latios.

The dragon quest enemies and pokemon don't look even remotely alike though, where alot of pals in palworld are almost 1 to 1 rip offs.

the issue with this line of argument is you can actually pinpoint the exact Pokemon meshes used to make Pals. Verdash uses the exact same base model as Cinderace, for example.

Original Dragon Quest (warrior monsters) for the old OG Gameboys was goated. Amazing game. Truthfully though Dragon Quest stopped making the Warrior Monster games and Pokémon adopted it 10 years later

From what I heard the lawsuit wasn't based on the Pokémon/pal designs but instead the gameplay of throwing an object to catch a ... in the game. Not sure how valid that is though.
