@drjaleelmohammed: These are the most effective antipsychotics for the acute treatment of psychosis and schizophrenia. 5. Zuclopenthixol: A typical antipsychotic mainly used to treat schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, particularly in agitated or aggressive patients. It comes in oral and injectable forms, with sedative effects. 4. Risperidone: Atypical antipsychotic effective for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability in other conditions. It helps manage positive and negative symptoms, with fewer movement-related side effects than typical antipsychotics but potential issues with hyperprolactinaemia. 3. Olanzapine: An atypical antipsychotic treating schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Known for improving mood and reducing hallucinations, it carries risks of weight gain and metabolic issues but offers good symptom control. 2. Amisulpride: Used for schizophrenia and other psychotic conditions, especially effective against negative symptoms like lack of motivation. It's a selective dopamine antagonist with fewer sedative effects but can raise prolactin levels. 1. Clozapine: A powerful atypical antipsychotic, primarily for treatment-resistant schizophrenia. It reduces suicidal behavior but requires regular blood monitoring due to the risk of agranulocytosis, a potentially life-threatening blood disorder. #schizophrenia #psychosis #meds #MentalHealth #psychiatry #psychiatrist
