@expoterraria: Hoy #expoterrariarepost de @herptime Excavation time 👷 or at least my version 🚧 I’ve never used @zoomedlabs excavator clay before this video, but I think this Australian themed enclosure turned out kinda cool! The goal here was to make a cool background coupled with some really gnarly roots to go for a rock face or bank that a gecko might call home, looking for bugs in and out of the roots. The gecko in this enclosure is an Australian velvet gecko (Oedura monilis), a unique and beautiful species. Normally excavator clay would be used for burrowing animals that want to dig, but I figured it might make a good background material. Despite being my first time using this as a background I’d say it was succesful! It’s always fun to branch out and that’s what makes building enclosures enjoyable. Building as many as possible and modifying technique and the composition usually only makes the enclosure look more natural. Practice makes perfect! Observing nature and research on habitat always helps too. No matter where in the world you are, there is a certain flow to nature, rocks, wood, and plants. Once that is understood, it’s easier to make enclosures on the fly. The cool thing about this clay is it is relatively easy to remove when it’s time to start over. Definitely something I’ll try again someday! #HerpTime #herpetology #herpetoculture #reptile #reptiles #lizard #lizards #gecko #geckos #velvetgecko #oedura #oeduramonilis #rarereptiles #terrarium #vivarium #bioactive #bioactiveterrarium #bioactivevivarium #bioactivesetup #DIY #hardscape #aquascape #aesthetics #satisfying #asmr #nature #repost
