All these hypothesis and we forget that galaxies are racing away faster every second. One would have to factor that into the journey. Let alone on the cosmic scale by the time you reach half that....

Not really accurate though is it, we view light from the past, but the closer we get to the object, the past becomes shorter, so if we travelled 120 light years it would be the present at the point!
