@justinveenema: Her “why” is pretty powerful 👮‍♀️ I met Megan, a police officer, during the Car Free Day event on Main Street, Vancouver. We had a quick photo session, but what stood out to me was her perspective on what it means to serve the community. Megan became an officer because she wanted to make a difference and reflect the diversity of the city she grew up in. She shared stories of helping people in the community who initially didn’t trust the police, and how she strives to break down barriers every day, one interaction at a time. Her passion for community engagement and the connections she builds remind me that, no matter the job, it’s the human element that matters most. — 👋 Personal Note: I wasn’t expecting to photograph a member of the VPD that day, and I also wasn’t expecting to run into my friend Topp and his daughter, Ellie. But looking back, the timing of this entire interaction couldn’t have been better. There have been many serendipitous moments like this throughout the project - where things line up just perfectly. But even before Megan told me her story, I could tell how important it was for her to set a good impression on the youth at any given opportunity.
