@leftfootlearning: With the changing of the seasons, I thought it was a perfect time to get the kids thinking about food. In particular the fruits and vegetables that are in season during the Fall months. And then Giuseppe Arcimboldo came to mind because his four season portraits are such a great illustration of seasonal foods. It also helps that they are simply beautiful pieces of art as well. Can you imagine painting food portraits in the Renaissance? Come on… that’s some amazing stuff right there! The kids and I scanned the Fall portrait and then talked about the foods shown. We also talked about how our food production lines have made it possible to eat strawberries in the Winter. The kids gathered up the our seasonal produce and started making portraits. I joined in the fun as well. We then shifted gears and started preparing a Fall feast for lunch. The kids and I cooked sweet potatoes, mushrooms, and kale. It was a perfect way to finish off our discussion about seasonal food. #invitationtocreate #artlessonsforkids #preschoolartactivity #preschoolathome #homeschooling #seasonalfoods #fallactivitiesforkids #fallsensoryplay
