competing brokerage companies can figure out who a customer is sometimes based on cities and some specific lanes and so it can be a way to try and protect a brokers customer base

Broker told me once it's done to get more hits from carriers looking for loads. And sometimes so the rate per mile looks more lucrative than it actually is

Maybe so the customer doesn’t know how much money exactly his load is posted for. Just to protect them from angry customers that don’t want to pay broker fee 😅👌

Could be a blind load issue. Seems unlikely though. More likely so that the broker can protect their customer from competition

Typically it’s to make it easier for people to call in on loads. For instance I have loads going to McCalla Alabama. I’ll post it going to Birmingham since it’s easier for people to know where that is
