@camerononealgolf: Another lesson today. Found a new coach a few weeks ago and he has changed my game completely. In this specific video we drilled keeping the right foot down to prevent early extension. Hence the chicken winged follow through and foot not coming up. Here’s the backstory: had some horrible shots warming up today before lesson almost like I’d never hit a golf ball. What started out disheartening as EVERY. SINGLE BALL hit during my warm up was either a top, fat, or slice, my coach Scott worked his magic. By the end of the lesson I was hitting compressed iron shots that drew and hitting a driver like I had never hit it before. We worked on everything. The key takeaways from today really helped me simplify my swings and learned the difference between the iron swing and the driver swing. The takeaways are as follows: Irons: face and weight Driver: face, weight and head What does this mean? (For me) With an iron, if I hit a shot that has bad contact (a fat shot, or thin shot), my weight did not move to my left side in my swing. If I make good contact, but the ball doesn’t go where I’m wanting it to (for me, it goes to the right), the face was open at impact. For driver the same thing applies, the ONLY thing different is because I am hitting up on it, I need to focus on keeping my head behind the line of the ball. When I tell you I was hitting these beautiful high draws (shots that start right then come back left, the most sought after shot for right handed golfers) it was awesome. One thing I hate but also love about Scott is he’ll tell me to do something, I’ll do it once, then right before I try to do it again, he starts talking to me. This is done on purpose as means to help me stay focused and concentrated. And it actually helps the stuff we work on stick. Gonna play a round this coming Friday for the first time in about 3 weeks and I am ITCHING to see what happens.
