imagine how scared he was the whole time? especially when they told him to hit the cruiser on purpose. that’s not just a easy thing to do on purpose as a young new driver.

The fact that the car slowed down because of collision prevention system shows the brakes were functional. Every car built in last 15+ years will cut throttle if brakes are applied.

All automatic cars are able to be put into neutral while the car is moving. It’s made like this for these scenarios. Put car in neutral, brake if you can, and try to use the ebrake if needed.

Most of the time, gas pedals that get stuck to the floor is because of the floor mat, but I gotta tell ya, if it was stuck to the floor put the thing in neutral and let the motor rev up

This happened to me before. Go into neutral, switch the engine off, and brake like hell. This is a common problem for early 2000s hondas

Everyone saying neutral the Honda pilot has buttons as a shifter so the cars computer will not let the driver go into neutral unless he stops

Stuff like this happens every once in a while. Most people die. There are 911 calls you can listen to with the people saying it. They are super scary.

I am a mechanic. far as I am aware all models of cars can shift into neutral while in motion. most newer cars have a revving limiter to prevent damage from high rpm long enough till u can pull over.

he could have pulled the e brake, turned off car, put in neutral and would have been fine with minimal damage especially if he just turned it off

Glad he’s safe, but I have a hard time believing it wasn’t user error is such a rarity for cars nowadays have stuck an accelerator. If I had to guess his floor mat was on top of the accelerator.

i did some research, he was driving a Chevy Traverse around 2016ish and yes you can put those in neutral while driving and its also key operated not push start, so he could of just turn off the engine
