We had early adulthood. Got a spouse. Drew for random occupation with salary. Had to budget groceries and housing. All kinds of family issues.

Financing class, learn to balance a checkbook, your checking account, savings, taxes etc… home Economics….sewing, cooking, nutrition…everyone took it boys and girls. Those are good skills to have.

I’m 53 and we had home ex in middle school. It was sewing (we made an apron) and then cooking.

i went to the school you teach at!! the cooking/family class teacher retired my sophomore year and i think they might've cut the position cause they never re-hired for that position again

I’m a career exploration and agriculture teacher. I had my students create a resume&cover letter and apply for a job. I pay them each month for their job and they have to learn to budget their money.

Never took it but we had a family planning elective, no robot babies but they helped w the kids that used the daycare for students that were teen moms

we offer food and nutrition and auto shop and metal shop and art. I love that my high school has kept this curriculum.

I took a class called Life Skills (1 & 2) in 7th n 8th grade, hands down my favorite class! Plus i loved the teacher! We cooked, baked, sewed, and learned other basic life skills!

We were required to take Life Management & it covered all kinds of things. I thought it was lame at the time because my parents taught me all of that, but now that I'm a HS teacher, they need it back!

i took both that you mentioned. for us it was called Home Ec / child development ☺️we learned pretty much all the things to run a home. we were taught to sew, cook, watch the fake baby etc.!

My school had FAcS (sewing and cooking) we also had a cosmetology class as well that was so much fun… I had no intention of being a hairdresser but the class was so fun 🤷🏻♀️

I graduated in 2017 & when I was in middle school we had home ec(sewing & cooking). In high school I had criminology which was all about true crime! One of my fav classes ever!

I took both of those classes. nutritional foods and parenting. They were taught by the same teacher and I loved them

Also should have a basic car care class, changing your oil, changing a tire, changing your breaks…things that you should know!

Definitely need to learn about finance. Should honestly be mandatory. If your parents don’t teach you, you’ll be lost when you get out of highschool.
