I’m having the same problem in NY! I’ve been getting DEP Water ESTIMATES (despite multiple visits from employees doing live meter readings) for the last 3 years and they are trying to charge me 2k every two months now for an empty residential building that I only stay in once every three to 6 months. My water bill is at 12K …how is it even legal for them to be price gauging me like this when the meter is showing very little use if any and they’re refusing to correct the bill and adding crazy fees when theh have never given me a non-estimated bill. I also need your help pleaseeee

Sounds like corruption. If her house meter is normal and a pipe burst somewhere it seems an adjuster in the local government/water agency wanted to put the expense on a random consumer.

I feel like these utilitie companies usually target low income folks I live in a rent controlled apartment and when we got a new utility company I got a light bill for 400$ when it’s normally 45$

Me as a plumber would like to know what the price is per gallon, then divide it by the bill then we know how much gallons she used, then check the dimensions of the pipe and calculate if it’s possible

Awesome👏 outcome. Read your own meter for reference and see if any leaks are detected from the meter. Sometime there are underground leaks.
