well worded, i also find that allistic ppl dont always notice when IM being sarcastic bc im more focused on context than tone. based on the context, my sarcasm seems obvious to me but im taken literal

My problem with sarcasm is that I think there’s a shred of truth in the sarcastic statement, I think they’re using sarcasm to hide their true opinion, so yeah I second-guess.

..my son saying his pet peeve is when he asks "would you mind if.." and then the allistic person saying "yes" to the IMPLIED REQUEST, but he takes it as "yes" to the LITERAL question of "do you mind".

i think you hit a very important point, "unless you're actively decoding". cause i can sometimes understand what people are trying to say but it takes ACTIVE thinking, whereas its automatic for others
