Growing up in FL in the 90s, we worried about the wind & aftermath of living w/o electricity, water etc for wks. Many joke that “real Floridians don’t leave” but storm surge isnt what it used to be.

Does FEMAcover hotel cost pre-hurricane (before) or is just post-hurricane (after)? I’ve seen a lot of tik tok videos of Floridians that can’t afford to evacuate or leave because hotels are full.

i would drive as far away as I could. when I run out of gas I would start walking the highway, someone will let me pile in with them. I would get out one way or another not sit and wait to die
