They need a basic backboard and c-collar on board and every single member of that ship needs full training in how to save the integrity of a spinal injury.

You would think they would have at least basic training for these types of situations. This poor guy may have a worse injury due to them moving him prior to stabilizing.

i know you shouldn’t move someone with a back injury but also i feel like the deck of this ship is not the safest place to leave him until coast guard shows up?

Uhm okay as a former army medic I think do not move him but safety for everybody first. They are at a rough sea, to much things moving around and cold are enemy nr 1 for everybody. So they need tomove

They could have put the kneck brace on him while on deck and they should have a back board available at all times to stabilize. Then move him inside!!!

When I heard them say let’s get him inside I let out the biggest gasp. And then the guy said “no no no” and I was like ok he knows what to do but he let me down 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️

I find it odd they called coast guard on a phone . I’ve been on boats and situations where we just used the boats radio

You know you’re not supposed to move him, but in this case, it was either move him or risk him getting hit by rogue waves.. or being tipped off the deck and hurt further
