I was a fps nerd before and thought turn based combat was a lazy gameplay mechanic and just was a brainless move but good lord bg3 has me hooked and I'm fighting for my life

That's why I can't get into it. Rogue Trader at least let's you speed up enemy animations so the turns don't drag on.

You can’t imagine how long it took in the beta version. Your enemies wouldn’t group up if they all were taking the same turn so it took 10 times longer.

skill issue honestly, if you use some aoe damage on the weakest links you're only down to the bigger guys, making it a lot quicker in combat
