@pbsnews: PBS News’ William Brangham reports from Lakeland, Florida — a city 25 miles from the coast where Hurricane Milton made landfall as a powerful Category 3 storm. The community he is reporting from is just one example of an area hit hard by Milton, despite being in the central part of the state. “This entire mobile home community is flooded,” Brangham said. “It’s about two to three feet of water.”Homes and vehicles for many blocks are submerged, with some residents stranded. People in the community told Brangham that they were not instructed to evacuate by authorities. Some chose to stay while others voluntarily evacuated or spent the night in local shelters. In order to rescue people stuck in areas that are completely submerged in water, Polk County authorities have been running boat rescues and using airboats. #hurricanemilton#miltonupdate#hurricanemiltonupdate#floridahurricane#lakelandflorida #pbsnews #hurricanerescue #polkcounty

They certainly told people who lived in mobile homes or low lying areas to evacuate.

So you want everyone dependent on the govt? If you can't make a informed decision on your own. that's your fault. Adults acting like uneducated children. This is what we have come to. Liberals are trash.........

when I lived in Florida, they always said to evacuate if you're in certain zones & if you're in a mobile home you had to evaluate no matter the zone.

I was under the impression that anyone in the “path” of Milton in zones A,B & mobile homes were to evac. It was like that in most co. MH were told to evac here in Hernando CO?

Central FL here. Thank you for getting our story out. 🙏❤️We stayed because we had a false sense of security & now we're stuck without power, food, & any help.

Local officials can’t tell you how bad flooding will be beyond an estimate…You’d only know that if you live in the area and can see if the neighborhood floods badly from

I'm not sure why they expect the authorities to know exactly what's going to happen when they say this is a storm of a century. ain't nobody 100 years old working for the weather departments
