I'm paid hourly all the time. my boss always stands up for us when we need to wait for a load and he just passes the cost on to the shipper

The broker is probably pocketing the $50 for the 2-4 hours and anything after that pocketing $25 because the margins are thin and he knows the client is going to take 6 hours just my guess

not just detention. 10 years ago I was getting $2+/mile and I'm currently barely getting $2/mile. considering inflation and everything else, make it make sense!

Private fleet driver. Per hour all benefits and wages is factored at $95 an hr. So asking for $100-150 detention seems fair

I think that you should not agree to those terms, as when booking a load, review the rate con and set up your terms for detention as well, used to work every time for me

detention needs to be at what he truck can average so a minimum of $100 an hour. I'm good with the 2hr but I think of it goes over the free hour limit then all hours should be billed. if it don't hurt

Honestly 80% of the time they don’t even paid, a least this is my experience, and not even considering that you have t spend days some times calling them about this. Trucking industry is became a joke

Most brokers are charging shippers the full rate. They will offer carriers whatever carriers will accept. Carriers are their own worst enemy

this is why enforcement of cfr 371.3 is crucial. It will do many things. One of them is keeping people honest. If brokers are keeping detention, accessorials, fuel, excessive margins, it will come out

I would just start by charging 100 hr. If they do t like it, then they can take it to court. Repair shops get away with 200+ hr labor rates. Then we should be charging 200 hr.
