↓ Let’s talk reel cover photos ↓ First, this is my opinion as an IG expert but also as a consumer Let me walk you through two scenarios Scenario 1: You walk into an ice cream shop that has over 50 flavors of ice cream, none of the ice cream is labeled so you have to taste test each to find the one you want Scenario 2: You walk into an ice cream shop that has over 50 flavors of ice cream, the ice cream is labeled, you can taste test or you can just choose the flavor you want Which ice cream shop would you rate as giving the better experience? 1 or 2? I personally would say 2 I have options, I can taste test if I want, but also I can go in and just say “yep this one is for me”, getting what I want in less time And that’s how I feel about text on reel covers It creates a better experience when I come to an account, making it easier for me to binge content, and find out if their content has value to me without tapping into a bunch of reels You want to make it as easy as possible for people to get what they want so that they stick around and get to what they need (your offers) If it takes time, you’ll lose people So if you want to create a better account experience + get people to follow AND stick around…. [Add text (your hook) to the cover photo] Now a few questions I get asked often… Is not putting text on your reel covers harming your growth? No Are there exceptions? Yes. Photography, art, and other niches/industries where aesthetics are very important would be a time when I would say it’s not as necessary but can still be added Does the cover photo have to be a graphic created in Canva? Nope. All of my reel covers have text and they are just screen grabs from the reel! Are you team text on the reel cover or no? I’d love to hear your thoughts ↓
