@thesecretlifeofdads: Dads are 1/2 of the parental unit. Yet why do so many of them feel forgotten or left behind? One in ten dads experience post natal depression (the figures are expected to be much higher but so many men don't come forward) It can be as simple as asking a dad "how are you? Shall we have a chat?" ❤️ #dads #dadhealth #parenthelp #parentinghelp #dadsoftiktok #MentalHealth
True as a dad you are literally the last person anyone even considers

I lost my dad in the same week my first child was born. No one asked me how I was doing.

True. Nobody did ask. But that wasn’t any different than the 36 years before my first born.

The worst part is how midwives and doctors and nurses do not even acknowledge Dads or let them speak they speak directly to the Mother.

I doesn’t bother me if no one asks how I’m feeling. I just get on with it, provide for my son, making sure he has what he needs.

This is so true. No one asked me. Wife, rightly got asked by everyone. It was Covid and I already felt isolated but it was tough. Men are still an afterthought in this.

No professionals asked me anything. Was blanked when it came to appointments and meetings even though I was there. One doctor told me to be quiet while I gave answers concerning our son.

Dad of an 11 month old. Fortunate enough to have an extra two weeks off on top of paternity around xmas. Went back to work shattered, legs gave way and fell over outside Asda. I’m 35 😅

That’s because it doesn’t matter! Bottom of the pile and exactly how it should be. We are the providers strap in and get on with it.

I had to chase so hard for any help after a really traumatic birth, and first week in special care. Literally became a different person on that day. Thought I'd lost them both. 😔

There is an expectation we can do it. Never asked how I’m feeling, but that’s fine.

Gonna be honest it doesn’t get better. That will be your life now, putting them first and no one asking or caring how you are
