@fletchonsteam: There has been a lot of hype lately about token passing, so I thought I would join in. The token is used to grant the right of way for a section of track. The idea is that if only one locomotive holds the token, the line is clear, and collisions are avoided. Tokens, which were once keys used to unlock points, are now primarily used to control the right of way, especially with the introduction of mechanical points replacing manual ones. Tokens were traditionally collected at low speed by the signalman to speed up changeovers, allowing the locomotive to maintain its schedule without stopping. . #steamlocomotive #steamtrain #railway #trains #vintage
