@jeeves_ny: Body odor is caused by bacteria that lives on your body, not sweat itselfs. This bacteria loves to eat our body oil (sebum), so the more oil we can remove from our clothes, the less stinky they will be! Unfortunately, synthetics hold onto oil much more than natural fibers like cotton. This means that you may need to try some new solutions if you're having a problem with body odor on your clothing. Here are some tips from a 4th generation dry cleaner: 1) Wash sooner than later 2) Pretreat them with an all purpose enzymatic stain remover (I keep mine next to my hamper so I pretreat right away) 3) Use a detergent designed for odor removal 4) Use washing boosters like baking soda, borax, washing soda, and/or sodium percarbonate to supercharge your detergents cleaning power 5) Stop using fabric softner! This will make it worse 6) Try using a rinse product designed for extra cleaning / odor removal like white vinegar or Downy Rinse / Tide Boost 7) Use a laundry sanitizer if all else fails I hope this helps unstink your stinky clothes! #laundry #odorremoval #stinkyclothes #smellyclothes #malodor #laundrytips #howtowashgymclothes #syntheticclothes #gymclothes #howtoremoveodors #unstinkclothes #cleaning #clean #cleaningtips #bodyodor #howtoremovebodyodor #bodyodorremoval

What helped with my smelly polyester clothes was soaking in 50/50 water and vinegar overnight. Then soak in water and detergent overnight again. Then wash regularly in washer and dryer

I used dish soap to prewash. Works well. BJJ Gi and rash guards are especially stinky...
