When I was a teen I knew I was depressed and was waiting for my doctor’s appointment so I could finally tell someone. Dr said “you’re not depressed, are you?” I panicked and said no.

this is great info. Unfortunately in primary care we have 15 min to address the pt’s HTN, diabetes, asthma, new rash, joint pain, med rec, etc. Depression screening often ends up being two questions

I had an OBGYN say me “i imagine everything’s fine at home right? You’re not being abused or anything are you?” I literally was in a domestic abuse situation at time.

I started going to PT for mystery pain I’ve been having that’s destroying my life. My PT says “Your answers make it sound like you’re depressed, just letting you know bc they make me screen you” 😭

When I said I thought I was depressed in high school, I was told it was a phase by my doctor. I knew it was wrong, and 8 years later I take medication by someone better

I really like my GP, but she’s at hospital w/ a large group of other GP’s. I have to fill out the same questionnaire every time & the nurse asks me the same questions on the questionnaire. (1)

my doctor just asks if I sleep well, but I guess this is a screening question for anxiety. they assume I'm not depressed because I'm smiling

Can you talk about the goal of meds with depression? I know it’s not a cure all but I thought it was supposed to make me at least a lil more motivated to want to do therapy/exercise/etc.

I kinda struggle with assessment Qs, in the sense of getting new answers bc I'm asking my pts 3x a day as a nurse. So I wonder, are they really getting better or are they just sick of the same Qs?
