Would love to be a PHN (experienced paeds nurse)- the need to have x2 years general experience needs to be revisited as a huge proportion of the work pertains to paediatrics and neonates.

Problems like this don’t only fail our children with additional needs but it puts a huge mental health strain on caregivers, we’re left floating in limbo with worry for our kids 😢

Maybe they should make it more accessible for registered nurses to do a PHN post grad and there wouldnt be such a shortage !!

Let ID and MH nurses train in this area too .. we have a lot of skills we can use and if we have to do an extra course to skill up we will ..🙌🏻

being a PHN is not just about developmental checks for children. they also have housebound pts, wound care, attending to people who have long term iv access for chemo/dialysis etc. their work load is

The amount of children with serious developmental delays and phn telling the parents that they’re fine mam the child is 3 and can’t walk/crawl or speak they’re not fine.

My 11 year old has never had a public dental visit. One of my kids is over 3 years on a waiting list with HSE for an assessment. Our school roof leaks and there aren't enough SET staff to do IEPS.

My 1st hasn’t been seen since 3 months and he’s 2. He has a speech delay but was told he won’t be seen because he can’t be diagnosed. I’m a nurse so I know what to look out for but I pity the kids
