because it's in the case, it got hot, caused the plastic to melt which made the battery hotter then BOOM

Cheap cable leads or plugs cause this. It happened to my daughters Amazon tablet. Never charge for too long either, nothing overnight!

ebay plug was definitely used here. the original samsung plugs are smart plug and stop the phone heating up too much while charging. plus I reckon this has been dropped a few times too

My last 3 Samsung phones did this. Which is why I switched to a Pixel. I couldn't believe it second time and was appalled the 3rd time and decided it's not safe to use Samsung's anymore

I can confirm my mum used the charger she got with the phone 😳 and the case should not make it explode especially as it was only on charge for an hour in the kitchen 😅
