I think it’s because the guidelines you used don’t really fit ur style!! The guidelines like that are more realistic ish proportions than anime!! Very cute still!!!!

Imo is the one with guidelines much better, the only thing for me off is the nose which is marked too low especially when you draw younger char. Also it always feels off when you draw diffrend as (1)

I think the second one looks good to you because you’ve developed your style to hit some sorta quota the makes it look visually pleasing in your head but objectively the first one is better

i think because you have an artstyle, the guidelines you use dont match with it. maybe the guidelines have to be distorted warped to your style but still have proportions
