Tim Walz warned on Tuesday about outsiders “coming into rural communities, stealing our jobs, making life worse for the people who are living there.” “Those outsiders have names,” Walz said. “They’re Donald Trump and JD Vance.” Walz spoke at a farm in western Pennsylvania during a campaign stop devoted to the ways a Kamala Harris administration would improve the lives of rural Americans through health care and other policy priorities. His allusion to “outsiders” called to mind the anti-immigrant rhetoric used repeatedly by his Republican rivals, especially their false claims against Haitian migrants who have settled in Springfield, Ohio.
