@suttersfortshp: If you visit the park grounds of the CA State Indian Museum and Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park, you’ll see a variety of oak trees. There is a particular one that is in the backyard of the museum that is older than the rest and is the subject of this video. It’s our majestic valley oak! An example of a California endemic species (naturally occurring nowhere else in the world) and the largest of the California oaks, the valley oak is the keystone oak of California's Central Valley. It sets the stage for ecosystems and is a major reason as to why the Central Valley was historically able to sustain thousands of California Native people and evolve a vast diversity of wildlife. You can learn more about valley oaks and other types of oak trees this Saturday, October 19th, at Acorn Day! This is a fun day of demonstrations, arts & crafts, educational booths, guided tours of the park, and to learn all about the process of turning acorns into food. This is a FREE public event that takes place outside of the State Indian Museum. There is a separate charge to visit the museum and Sutter’s Fort where there will be interpretive stations around the Fort as well this day. #suttersfort #stateindianmuseum #castateparks #sacramento #acorns #museum #History #oakleaf #oaktree @California State Parks

Great info Reyes, but I wasn’t really listening. Your crooked and uncentered name tag is soooooo distracting!!! 😂
