Spooky season sweets 👻🍫 Whipping up some Halloween candy brownies—because leftover candy deserves a second life! Ingredients * Leftover halloween candies chopped * 1 1/2 (4-oz) bars bittersweet chocolate, broken into pieces * 10 Tbsp (140g) unsalted butter * 3 large eggs at room temperature * 1 cup (224g) light brown sugar * 1/2 cup (118g) granulated sugar * 1/2 tsp kosher salt * 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract * 1/2 cup (100g) all-purpose flour * 1/4 cup (30g) Dutch-process cocoa powder 1. Prep the candy: Start by chopping your Halloween candies into your desired size — set aside 2. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square pan with cooking spray, line it with parchment paper, then lightly grease again. 3. Melt the chocolate and butter: In a small saucepan, combine the chocolate pieces and butter. Melt slowly over low heat, stirring occasionally, until smooth and glossy with no lumps remaining. 4. Whip the eggs and sugars: In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment (or using a hand mixer), combine the eggs, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Beat on medium-high speed for 3 minutes until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened. 5. Combine with chocolate: Scrape down the sides of the bowl, then set the mixer to low and slowly pour in the melted chocolate mixture. Once combined, increase the speed to medium and beat until smooth. 6. Add flavor: Mix in the salt and vanilla, then scrape down the bowl once more to make sure everything’s evenly incorporated. 7. Fold in dry ingredients: Using a spatula, gently fold in the flour and cocoa powder just until no streaks remain — be careful not to overmix. 8. Pour and smooth: Spread the batter evenly into your prepared pan. Tap the pan firmly on the counter a few times, wait a minute or two, then tap again to help release any air bubbles. 9. Bake: Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out with a few moist crumbs. 10. Add the candy topping: As soon as the brownies come out of the oven, lightly press candies into the top. Arrange them however you like — neatly spaced or piled on for a fun, spooky look. 11. Chill and set: Transfer the pan to the refrigerator and let the brownies cool completely, for at least 2 hours, before slicing and serving.
