So, i understand this is a flex push for solar, but gas generators can be run indefinitely as long as the oils changed (takes 5 min) and has fuel.

Solar panels would not have survived the storm either this sounds like a push to go solar powered the technology allowed to us is insufficient and costly so that's not going to happen
