@anna..papalia: ⬇️ If an interviewer asks an illegal interview question, you can respond by politely stating that you don't feel the question is relevant to the job and would prefer to focus on your qualifications, or you can directly point out that the question is inappropriate and ask them to move on to another topic, while maintaining a professional demeanor; if the questions continue, you may even consider politely excusing yourself from the interview. 📌Key points to remember when responding to illegal interview questions: • Acknowledge the discomfort: "I'm not comfortable answering that question as it seems to be personal information not relevant to the job." • Redirect the conversation: "Can we focus on my skills and experience that are directly related to this position?" • Ask for clarification: "Could you please explain how this question is relevant to the role?" • State the legal concern (if appropriate): "I believe asking about my [protected characteristic] is not permitted under employment law." • Maintain professionalism: Use a calm and respectful tone, even if you feel uncomfortable with the question. 📌Examples of how to respond to illegal interview questions: • Question about age: "I have extensive experience in this field, and I'm confident my skills are a great fit for this role." • Question about marital status: "My personal life will not interfere with my ability to perform the job duties." • Question about religion: "I'm happy to discuss how my work ethic aligns with the company's values." • Question about pregnancy plans: "I'm not planning to start a family in the near future, and my focus is entirely on my career." #interview #interviewquestions #interviewprep #jobsearchtips

yall make me laugh. being defensive on the get go isn't the best choice here. as a recruiter, I ask what your spouse does for a living in case my client can create a position for both of you.

as an old broad, I would say pass. then email their hr dept re disappointment in their questions, link them to some employment law websites, & keep it pushing. you don't want to work for that company.

I interviewed for a teaching position at a career tech center where I’d have classes of 20+ 11th and 12th grade boys. I was asked how ought I’d be able to handle and manage the classes.

The most antagonizing one is "Can you explain that 6 months gap in 2005". Uhm... Dude, no! "No, I can not, and I should not. It's 6 months, WTH do you even care?!" 😡
