You have to check a bag 45 minutes before the flight takes off or else they won’t let you check it. Assuming boarding is 35 minutes before, there is 0% chance he arrived 5 minutes before boarding

My husband and I were almost stuck in Ireland… we got there 4 hours before our flight too! We ended up in the wrong gate, that gate was told that their flight was canceled

I don’t believe for 1 second you checked a bag when the boarding was schedule for the same time. You have to check a bag 45 domestically and 1 hour for all other. 😅
