I used the Horrible Goose where it could absolutely not be caught/grappled, so they players would chase it/grab at it and be unable to catch it, but it would drop whatever it was holding 😁

just don't let it interfere. tried playing with a dm in a game shop. his was a chicken but would stop the characters doing anything dm didn't like. notably returning stolen potions rogue stole

My DM implemented it as an Eldritch threat that the players accidentally summoned that killed all the ogres in the dungeon we were in in it's wake. we didn't bother fighting it, we sealed it and left.
