@justinveenema: I dropped the ball 😅 A lot of people ask me what happens when people say no, and how I react. Well - here’s a sneak preview lol. I met Peterson near Olympic Village in Vancouver. He stood out to me, because it seemed like everyone else nearby was busy trying to get to somewhere… biking, running, speed walking, etc. But here he was, just chilling on his bike, taking in the views. I asked if I could take his portrait - and I *thought* he said no 😂 So I politely thanked him, and wished him a good day. But as I walked away, he clarified that he actually WAS open to getting his portrait taken. (Thank goodness lol) Before I started this project I would AGONIZE at the thought of saying no. “What if they say now?! How embarrassing would that be?!” But that’s pretty much what happens when someone says no (which happens often). I just thank them for their time, and go on my merry way. It’s usually not that big of a deal lol. I’ve only had two instances where the person was super rude with their response - but after photographing 250 people, you’re bound to get a few folks who just don’t vibe with you. And that’s okay. It’s less than 1%.
