Why do parents feel entitled to have other people’s time, space & resources? I do not understand

Go up to them and say “I’m SO happy you offered to take her shift!”

Sarah is causing a hostile workplace environment. OP needs to go to HR about both Sarah and the manager. 😒

I used to have a job where they treated me poorly because I was the only employee that didn’t have kids. It was so toxic I had to quit

It's so funny how people who claim others are lazy are often entitled and disrespectful at the first inconvenience to them.

As someone who is child-free by choice, I get this constantly, even though my husband and I both have chronic illness and life is anything but “easy.”

Years ago I was told since I don’t have kids I should work every Christmas. I reminded them I do have a family I want to spend time with. They kept trying to talk me into working. I didn’t work.

Manipulation 101… Making her feel guilty for having a life. Let the other coworker cover her shift then.

They're your coworker. Not family. Not friends. You owe them nothing. Nothing in their life makes them any better or more important than you and your mental health and happiness.

I would’ve went to HR, I even would’ve reported the manager for not attempting to defuse the situation

Call her out on it and then be busy all the time. If she is so busy maybe a stay at home mom would be a better option.

If I remember correctly, school events are known in advance. So, either a child didn't tell her, or she was too lazy to go ask for it off. I'd still be going to hr due to the work environment

I'm child free by choice. When people at work complain about being broke in the middle of the month or ask how I can afford what they deem to be expensive things, I just say "no kids, more money." The only difference is that they agree and we have a good laugh about it.
