They have the authority but neither the power or ability?

A warrant isn’t an invitation.

It all comes down to wether you define a warrant as “permission to enter” or “don’t need permission to enter”

"i have a warrant, may i enter" is what a vampire officer would say (or so im told 👁️👁️)

you couldn't be more wrong. the warrant is essentially a fancy invite

They were invited in by the judge

I believe invitations can become pretty arbitrary
anything like a welcome mat or an open door can probably be twisted into being an invitation

Do you own the home? Does the vampire need to ask Bank of America? Maybe the owner of BOA is a familiar and gives all vamps blanket permission to enter any house they own?

could a vampire by that logic not enter any business. they have legal permission to be in there but the owner didn't personally invite them

the question is who can let the vampire in? The Occupant, the owner or any associated entity?

In The Original if it's public property a vampire can enter without permission, so if we add those rules in it might work, but l wanna know what you think?

However a warrant basically acts like a temporary owner swap. Giving the government the property as they are now able to just go in, so during the warrant the government is inviting the police inside

But is a warrant a legal invitation? Is it like the judge inviting the cop to YOUR house?

Steven Adam Nichols :
idk....i think its a similar argument to say if you live in an apartment and the landlord invites him in, but you dont. the way things are set up we dont inherently own home exclusively....1/2

It’s kinda hard to avoid implying invitation to a vampire cop if they say they have a warrant.

I would agree if not for the questions of what denotes an invitation and what are the origins of the myth as I'm sure "invite" wasn't the original word used long ago

if a landlord says it's ok can a vampire enter a tenant's house?

I think the thing is that you legally have to allow them in, they still can't enter unless you invite them in, but you're legally required to invite them in now

Follow up question. If the human partner of the vampire enters the house with a warrant. Then invites the vampire cop into the house, can the vampire now enter?

maybe it's a Dresdon Files situation where your magical/supernatural abilities are heavily nerfed of you cross the threshold without an invitation
