This year, I chose to adopt the behaviours of Gen Z. I told my employers that I need a pay rise so that I am motivated to continue to work at my optimum or I will drop my work ethic to match my pay

The corporate world doesn't conform to employees, unfortunately. These companies will fire you in a minute if you don't conform. Change happens very slowly and I don't see that changing any time soon
