Updating your BIOS is usually recommended. But you need to research how to do it properly. Most motherboards today have a recovery feature that prevents bricking.

well yes and no: BIOS Updates also bring new functionality and fix security holes like LogoFAIL and Sinklose which allowed the attacker to directly write onto things like your BIOS chip.

BIOS update usually add compatibility with CPUs, and improve microcode so you should update it, and if u're on 13 or 14 gen you need to update the BIOS before the damage become permanent

you shoudl updated bios when something is wrong with the bios idk booting problems when youre pc is booting it says for me that the time is wrong but you shoudl have looked at the message at the bsod

The only exception to this rule is if you’re upgrading hardware. Last year i upgraded my GPU and my PC was not posting. A quick google search told me my board was having issues with that GPU (1)

I treat bios updates like an absolute last resort fix. I won't touch that with a 20 foot pole normally 😂

I tried to update my laptop's bios, it stuck and freeze at flashing. I searched the problem and its global issue. Had to restart during flash. A buggy bios got installed so had to downgrade 👇

Updating the bios or firmware in general shouln't be a routine job anyway, if it does require this then it is inherently insecure and built the wrong way. It is no secret that also UEFI isn't secure.

You need to update the BIOS if you have a 13th or 14th gen CPU, or your CPU will nuke itself.😂🙈

Rule of thumb. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. In this case of the 13 gen you SHOULD update the bios. In most cases some manufacturers suggest not to unless needed.*this is old knowledge

sometimes just remove the little battery, wait for 30 seconds, put it back then try to turn it on, it should work again
