ADHD is far more complex than losing stuff or forgetting things. It’s overthinking at a life disruption level: it’s being devastated for days over something that others think is nothing to worry about: it’s terrifying anxiety at social occasions: it’s reacting to minor rejection in a way that takes weeks or months to get over: it’s fixations on people, occupations or hobbies: it’s trying your best but never actually managing to establish routines, in fact disrupting routine makes life more interesting for a short while: its sensory stuff too: it’s the inability to connect with people and so people with ADHD often become victims of bullying. : it’s learning how to read micro expressions and sub conscious mannerisms in other people, we observe extremely well when people’s intentions aren’t what they are saying. this is a learnt behaviour because things I mentioned earlier. I observe unconscious thoughts and feelings like it’s a book to me, but others never see it. ADHD people are more heavily criticised whilst growing up, because of their wayward behaviour, but we internalise it far more intensely than others. Our whole life, before diagnosis and treatment involves a cascade of disappointments and failures. At any age or gender.

It truly is insulting and demeaning when my ADHD is not considered real, love it when someone says “I’ve got a little ADHD too. You just need to focus more.” Excuse you 🫨😤

"everyone had adhd 😄" and then their brain is quiet for the rest of the day and can do things out of habit and don't forget where they have placed their phone for the 5th time that day

I want to thank you for your posts. I was diagnosed with ADHD a year ago and I am 56. My doctor noticed that it wasn't anxiety and tested me but didn't explain it. You have helped me so much ☺️

My doctor said that a large percentage of my generation are now being diagnosed with ADHD. I don't recall anyone at school showing the symptoms as me. It was just me. (I am ADHD)

I don’t think it can be broken up so easily like this. I’m never late but I also have 5 alarms set every day to make sure I get things done. Each alarm has a description or I’ll forget what it’s for. It can be debilitating but it’s not fair to say that if you aren’t losing your job you don’t have ADHD

I'd trade a day with anyone....I'd give them an hour or two before they're calling wanting to trade back.

I’ve got at least a 3 year wait to see if it’s ADHD/ Autism or CPTSD. My work and personal life is madly affected by whatever it is. I wish people would understand more! 🥰

There’s years waiting lists now because everyone believes they have it like random women in their 60s. Which takes away appointments from younger ones who need help
