It’s not about the wedding or even the being married. It’s that the unwillingness to make the commitment reflected in getting engaged is a red flag that they’re not sure they see themselves with you in the future. If someone is hesitating on engagement, it’s unwise to have a kid, buy a house, or move cities with them. Forcing the conversation on engagement before the move might have moved the hard conversation up a few months.
