@super_solo_mon: I know I’m pushing him and he’s definitely responding but its not a good response. I have an obligation to teach him but how hard do I push? It’s a serious conflict I’m having right now. Lately our accommodations havent been available so then what? We cant just leave. There’s things we just have to do. #soloasd #solo #autism #autistic #accommodations #accommodate #autismmom #conflict #challenge #overcome

You're doing great! You're working towards the main goal! Other people are not going to be accommodating other places won't be accommodating so you have to prepare him what's coming for the future.

You are doing amazing mama!! Keep doing what you are doing! The world is cruel and he won’t always have the accommodations but teaching him how to cope is fantastic! 🥰

As an autism teacher, you’re exactly right. It’s a tight rope, but life is inconsistent and you’re helping him be flexible which is the most important life skill

Yes! Gradual release of accomodations. When you implement change, even for the benefit there can be pushback. Small steps toward the bigger goal. You are doing awesome! 💪

Introduce the word, “unavailable “ and start with small items so he start’s understand items and activities are not always available.

we take one of those scenarios at a time and build slow safe changes. keeping others routine. each one builds more tolerance and regulation tools during. key for us slow safe chunks. backup as needed.

a good friend of mine has a autistic son and believe me you're right. You keep pushing him and yourself. Her son was just like yours. and now he is a man and OMG the growth he has made. It's worth it.

We have worked so hard in our sons life to have as little accommodations as possible because we want him to be a part of the real world. It's so hard but I feel it's best long term.

Your doing it right dont change the style. My suggestion is to teach him how to control his emotions in moments of frustration when life doesn't have those accommodations! Then try again.

Continue to teach without accomodations, push his tolerance. Otherwise, get him anything you can, it’s all you can do!!

It’s the part of autism acceptance we need people to really understand that sometimes they really just need to make sure they have that extra room available 👍💯❤️❤️

Registered behavior therapist and you are doing an amazing job with him. You are building tolerance while rewarding but respecting his boundaries. Behavior comes from new skills being learned.
