Yes! Gradual release of accomodations. When you implement change, even for the benefit there can be pushback. Small steps toward the bigger goal. You are doing awesome! 💪

we take one of those scenarios at a time and build slow safe changes. keeping others routine. each one builds more tolerance and regulation tools during. key for us slow safe chunks. backup as needed.

a good friend of mine has a autistic son and believe me you're right. You keep pushing him and yourself. Her son was just like yours. and now he is a man and OMG the growth he has made. It's worth it.

I have the same worries as you do about accommodations. my son is 11 and is almost as big as I am. so it's difficult these days

We have worked so hard in our sons life to have as little accommodations as possible because we want him to be a part of the real world. It's so hard but I feel it's best long term.

Your doing it right dont change the style. My suggestion is to teach him how to control his emotions in moments of frustration when life doesn't have those accommodations! Then try again.

Continue to teach without accomodations, push his tolerance. Otherwise, get him anything you can, it’s all you can do!!

Registered behavior therapist and you are doing an amazing job with him. You are building tolerance while rewarding but respecting his boundaries. Behavior comes from new skills being learned.
