@theebooblessbabe: Navigating life after a double mastectomy brings challenges beyond the obvious, ones that don’t get talked about nearly enough. One thing I wasn’t fully prepared for was the numbness—not just across my chest but under my arms too, which is common after a lymphadenectomy (when lymph nodes are removed). Living with this numbness is a constant reminder of the journey I’ve been through. Imagine not being able to feel when something brushes against your skin, or feeling that subtle tug of discomfort with certain movements. It changes how you dress, how you sleep, even how you move. But here’s what I want other women to know: numbness doesn’t define us. It’s a part of the journey, yes, but it’s not the whole story. Just because parts of our body don’t feel the same doesn’t mean we don’t feel deeply, powerfully, and beautifully. There’s strength in embracing every part of this healing process, even the uncomfortable and strange sensations that nobody warns you about. So here’s to every single one of you who feels a little bit different today—physically, mentally, or emotionally. Your journey is powerful, and you’re not alone. #BRCA #breastcancer #aestheticflatclosure #doublemastectomy #mastectomy #bodypositivity #womenempowerment #healthadvocate #flattie #flattiebaddie

I’m still numb from a c-section. Sometimes it’s very itchy. Like an itch you can’t scratch. It’s a very weird sensation. My baby is 24.😂

It’s been two years since my diagnosis and seven months from my last postop. I’m in reconstruction phase. I’m just about numb below the belt.

Same! Plus the back of my arm on the cancer side. Surgeon told me I’d probably have an area the size of a quarter that was numb. 😬

Ive had four hip surgeries and half of my leg is numb. I can’t believe that wouldn’t tell you, that’s so negligent. I agree it’s the strangest feeling to not feel, a disconnect w the brain

They don’t tell you that you want to stretch all the time thinking it’s going to make the feeling come back!!

I had a tummy tuck in 2002 and I’m still numb in a large area around the scars and beyond. You do get used to it but it does take time.

The best thing about the surgical oncologist I work for, other than the fact that she is SO compassionate and empathetic, is that she is a survivor too, so when she comes from a place of understanding
