When cooking mince I use two bay leaf’s and an aniseed and you don’t get the funny smell.

You can buy colander with really small holes which allows you to wash the mince properly. I always wash my minced without any fail

wash mince and then boil it with some garam masala and then drain in colander. Then add it to your onion sauce. Won't smell. 😊
