Puerto Rico: Mango trees were brought to Puerto Rico around 1750. Florida: The first attempt to introduce mangoes to the U.S. was in 1833 to Florida. However, the trees died from neglect following the death of Dr. Henry Perrine, who attempted to introduce them. Naturalization: Mangoes have naturalized themselves to almost every Caribbean island, and are particularly widespread in Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, St Lucia, Martinique, and Trinidad – Tobago.
