@lukemcameron: 🍁🇯🇵 7 best Kyoto Autumn Spots Save these Kyoto autumn foliage spots for your Japan fall trip. These are some of my favourite spots around Kyoto to see autumn colours. 1. Daigo-Ji Temple: an easy 30 min train ride into the hills from Kyoto, walk up to the top to see the red bridge and get some udon from the restaurant next to it. Back down near the entrance make sure to see the stunning Sambo-In zen garden. 2. Imamiya shrine & Kazariya tea house: one of our favourite spots to enjoy some tea and grilled sweet aburi mochi dumplings. 3. Hokyo-in temple: this small temple bursts with vibrant autumn colours, at night it is illuminated during the peak colours. Also check out nearby Hogon-In temple during the day and night. 4. Somekobo Yumeyusai: this fabric dying gallery has beautiful reflections of the autumn foliage with views over the river in Arashiyama. 5. Kiyomizu-dera: an iconic spot overlooking Kyoto, get here early to beat the crowds. Grab a great coffee or matcha latte at %Arabica in Higashiama on the way up. 6. Otagi Nenbutsu-ji faces temple: a beautiful tranquil and unique temple in the hills above Arashiyama, you can get here easily by bus from Arashiyama. 7. Higashiyama District: a beautiful neighbourhood to explore with its traditional buildings, teahouses and shrines.
